10 Beers So Strong They Will Put Your Manliness To Test.

Without a doubt, beer is a man’s best friend! While beers are generally very less alcoholic as compared to the likes of whisky, vodka and rum, there are a few beer brews that are astoundingly strong. Yes, there are beers which are packed with so much alcohol that they can knock the lights out of the biggest drinking bragger you might be friends with. Here are 10 of the strongest beers (craft beers) on the planet that are so strong that drinking them actually takes balls of steel!
It’s a pity we can’t comment on the availability of these beers in India. It’s difficult to find them here since they are all craft beers.
(Note - The term used to measure the amount of alcohol in a drink is ABV- ‘Alcohol By Volume’. We have used a simpler term Alcohol% to denote the same in this list.)

10. TACTICAL NUCLEAR PENGUIN

Country: Scotland
Alcohol %: 32
Launched in 2009, Tactical Nuclear Penguin was then the world’s strongest beer. Penguin was aged for 8 months and was stored at minus 20 degrees for three weeks to get it to 32%.

9. STRUISE BLACK DAMNATION VI – MESSY

Country: Belgium
Alcohol %: 39%
Struise is one of the best brewers in the world and unsurprisingly, they also brew one of the strongest beers on the planet. The Black Dalmation project is Struise’s inhouse project in which dark Russian imperial stout beer serves as the base for a number of experimental brews. Out of 6 beers from this project that are sold to public, Damnation VI – Messy is the strongest. With 39% alcohol content, this pitch-black Imperial Stout beer still tastes like a beer subduing the taste of its overwhelming amount of alcohol.

8. BREWDOG SINK THE BISMARCK

Country: Scotland
Alcohol %: 41%
The makers of the infamous Tokyo brew (18.2% ABV) and the feared Tactical Nuclear Penguin (32% ABV), Scotland-based BrewDog brewery beat their own game by launching ‘Sink The Bismarck’ in 2011. Sink the Bismarck contains four times the hops, four times the bitterness and an astounding 41% alcohol content.

7. SCHORSCHBRAU SCHORSCHBOCK 43

Country: Germany

Alcohol %: 43%

It’s true that most of the strongest beers don’t taste good and this Eisbock is an example. However, its 43% alcohol content can knock the daylights out of you.

6. KOELSCHIP OBILIX
Country: The Netherlands
Alcohol %: 45%
Koelschip is known throughout the Netherlands for making super strong beers, and Oblix, with 45% alcohol content, is their strongest brew till date. It’s also one of the most difficult beers to procure; blame it on its cough-syrup-like taste.

5. THE END OF HISTORY

Country: Scotland
Alcohol %: 55%
With the third mention on this list, the BrewDog brewery is an ace at making beers that can potentially kill you. The End Of History, with 55% alcohol content, is one such beer. This ultra limited blond Belgian beer comes in a bottle wrapped with dead squirrel skin and is known for its strong whiskey-like taste with subtle hints of juniper berry. And with an astounding price tag of $780 a bottle, it’s also one of the most expensive brews in the world.

4. SCHORSCHBRAU SCHORSCHBOCK 57

Country: Germany
Alcohol %: 57%
The Schorschbock 57 isn’t tasty and not at all smooth but can surely knock out Shaquille O Neil off his ass! So if you want to test your manliness we reckon you to taste this badass brew.

3. START THE FUTURE

Country: Holland
Alcohol %: 60%
At 120 proof, Start The Future is a brew that can really burn the human larynx. Yes, that’s true and rumor has it that Koelschip, the producing brewery, added whiskey in it to make it the world’s strongest beer.

2. BREWMEISTER ARMAGEDDON

Brewery: Brewmeister
Country: Scotland
Alcohol %: 65%
Donning the crown as the 2nd strongest beer in the world, Armagedon has an astounding 65% alcohol content. With the baffling amounts of alcohol, this beer is consumed like whiskey and can actually burn the insides if chugged. Surprisingly, the taste reviews of Armagedon are not as bad as we expected them to be! It’s made from crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats, and 100% Scottish spring water.

1. BREWMEISTER SNAKE VENOM

Brewery: Brewmeister
Country: Scotland
Alcohol %: 67.5%
As the name suggests, Snake Venom can act as venom for your larynx. If downed in a go, Venom can actually shred the whole of your larynx and hurt other vital organs as well. With Armageddon (2nd on the list), Scottish Brewmeister took the whole world by storm when they introduced Snake Venom with an INSANE 67.5% alcohol level. This is very, very close to the absinthe levels of alcohol.  And surprisingly, it costs $80 a pop, which when compared with other brews on the list, is cheap.

Note- All the beers mentioned on this list are craft beers, made by privately owned breweries from around the world.
